Our Strategy

SEEDING REPAIR, BUILDING POWER, SHIFTING CULTURE

We combine reparative capital with power building and narrative shifts to challenge extractive financial systems and seed a new economy. By directing flexible, non-extractive funding toward entrepreneurs who are building wealth and power in their communities, we’re not just closing gaps—we’re cultivating new ground. We believe finance should be a tool for liberation, not oppression, and we are shifting the culture of finance to reflect that truth.

This is strategy for systems change. We’re inviting values-aligned investors, funders, and community builders to join us in creating the economy we all deserve.

Reparative Capital

Let’s move money with care.

We reimagine capital as a tool that can heal, repair, connect, and liberate.

Reparative Capital is a transformative approach to financing that seeks to rectify systemic inequities faced by marginalized communities. It recognizes the longstanding impact of racism and economic exclusion and aims to repair the racial wealth gap through intentional investment strategies prioritizing equity, inclusivity, and community empowerment. What makes Capital, reparative?

Prioritizes entrepreneurs that have been historically excluded from traditional financing

Flexible terms that adapt to evolving needs

Relationship-driven, not dependent on credit scores & collateral

Based in trust, dignity, and long-term vision

The RUNWAY Rooted Fund is where Capital meets Repair

Power Building

Power isn’t given–it’s built.

Capital alone doesn’t shift outcomes.

That’s why we invest in local infrastructure, transformative relationships, and connected ecosystems that help Black communities build wealth and collective power. For generations, financial systems in the U.S. have profited by extracting from Black and Brown communities—our labor, ideas, culture, and wellness—while upholding the idea that individual power is more valuable than collective power. These systems will not save us. They must be transformed. Our Power Building Principles are built on the belief that our collective power is achieved when we have:

A Reparative Financial System

An Informed Entrepreneur and Active Ecosystem

Community-Driven Advocacy for Real Transformation

Shifting the Culture of Finance

Changing systems means changing narratives.

Transforming financial systems starts with shifting how people think about money, risk, and power.

Culture drives policy, perception shapes practice—and both are influenced by the stories we tell and the truths we uplift. That’s why our work in this area focuses on:

Storytelling that centers Black entrepreneurs, their lived experiences, and redefinitions of financial success that are rooted in care, community, and abundance

Training and Education for funders, investors, and ecosystem partners to understand the harm of extractive finance—and imagine new possibilities

Publishing data and reports that translate our values into practice, highlight our impact, and spark critical conversations in the field

Sowing Transformative Narratives through:
